Appellate & Constitutional Law

Appellate practice is a distinct discipline with highly specialized rules and procedures that govern a party's “last chance” to reverse an unfavorable judgment or to preserve a hard-fought victory.

Our firm routinely represents clients in appeals before federal and state appellate courts. However, our appellate work begins at the trial level. We understand that successful case outcomes are shaped from the initial stages of litigation and that the role of experienced appellate counsel early in the process can be profitable later in terms of post-trial strategy, error preservation, and superior legal advocacy. Accordingly, we ensure that our cases are well position for an appeal should the need arise.

With attorneys who have clerked for both the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the South Carolina Supreme Court, we have an insider's perspective that enables us to efficiently and effectively defend good results in the trial courts and work to secure reversals or new trials whenever necessary.

We serve existing clients, clients who come to us for the first time to handle their appeal and clients seeking to participate in appeals as “friends of the court” in the filing of amicus curiae briefs. Notably, we are recognized as local experts on the enforceability of arbitration agreements and have obtained several, favorable appellate opinions on the issue.

Contact us today to discuss how we can be apart of your litigation team from the demand to the appeal.
